Optimism- Why I’m hopeful the US travel ban to the UK / EU will be lifted soon.

I woke up this morning optimistic about the lifting of the US travel ban and for a number of reasons too. The number of people being vaccinated is increasing which is good the United Kingdom and the USA have really gotten to grips with the vaccination programme and this is what makes me hopeful.

Now the G7 summit is next week, does it offer me optimism? Yes and no. The last few weeks and months have taught me not to build up my hopes. If something is announced or discussed then great but I am more cautious, I even think that travel commentators will be more cautious but any thing announced is certainly a welcome gesture but I'm not expecting any decision or announcement personally. But I'm sure discussions will take place behind closed doors and if there's an positive announcement then great.

But I'm more hopeful of lifting the US travel ban to the UK / EU now than any other time over this last year.

What also give me reason to be optimistic is the increase in air travel. JetBlue introducing flights between London and JFK. Aer Lingus starting flights between Manchester and New York. And the likes of the airlines increasing flights to and from Europe. There are small signs but they are enough to feed my enthusiasm.

I'm sure better times are coming and we will all be able to see our loved ones soon - I hope.
