Hi Sammual, I was on twitter and saw the new blog you set up and will definitely be following it. I am also one of the millions of people having their heart shattered every time the Biden Administration delay the opening up of travel.
I am British living in London and my boyfriend is American currently based in DC. We have now been apart for 18 months and its killing us. He's in the US Marine Corp. Our relationship is hard enough with him being in the Marines, and it already limits when i can see him, not to mention adding a travel ban on us.
He is double vaccinated and I am single vaccinated, with my second in September. I am 23 years old, healthy and fit. I am happy to pay however much to get PCR tests. I don't get how if every passenger boarding their flight provides a negative PCR test and is also double vaccinated why that's not enough for them to open.
This is driving me insane now. If you look at the countries that are allowed into the States (including all of poverty stricken Africa) they have some of the lowest vaccination rates going. However the countries with 50% above double vaccinated are all banned?? WHAT IS THE SENSE? The delta variant is already in the untied states. If they are so concerned about the variant then they shouldn't be letting there own citizens travel to the countries they are supposedly SO worried about. What, does Biden think that american citizens travelling to the UK/EU and returning back isn't a problem, but UK/EU citizerns are hugely contagious and will spread it in the US???? common!!! its ridiculous. There ban is based on 18 month old data, and the most frustrating thing is, they can break peoples hearts, ruin long distance relationships, effect peoples mental health etc by banning all of us, but yet they are doing nothing internally in the US to curb the rise in cases. Theres no lockdown, bars restaurants theme parks festivals all still open.. masks aren't mandatory, gyms still open etc….so everyone's living a normal life internally but all of us outside of the US are stopped from coming in. All of us in Europe lived through a tyranny of lockdowns and rules, at one point only being allowed outside for 1 hour of exercise a day! That makes no sense and makes me so so so angry. Does Biden not have a heart?? The problem with people in power is that there comfortable, Biden can access his family and loved ones, and is safe where he lives, so he doesn't understand how it feels to be in a relationship with the rules he's set in place . Biden needs to stop following the CDC and being such a hypocrite. Its simple, letting double vaccinated people who have provided a negative covid test isn't going to effect the case numbers in the US.
I will do anything to come to America, i have lost so much money by changing my flights to the States and my boyfriend only has a certain amount of leave a year… when i cancel/change my flights, that means my boyfriend has to change his leave, and that's not always granted by his Command. If its not granted then he loses his leave and we have even more limited time on when we can see each other. My boyfriend slaves away everyday for his country, please POTUS give something back to us. He and I deserve happiness and need to be together.
I am sorry for the minor rant there haha, I just wanted to share my story and my frustration. I will be following your blog very very closely.
Hi there, sammual posted a link to the White House covid team asking folks to post questions to Dr Fauci, which a lot of us have done, so put your question to him, we might not get answered but the more we flood it with questions then someone will see the effect it’s having on all of us separated by the ban. Our son lives in the US and same as you not seen him since February 2020 did you also read the letter in the link from Apex( I think) they handed into the Presidents office. The more press coverage and badgering the better in my opinion and Samuel does such a good job of hunting out the stories and keeping us uplifted. Good luck
