It would best if you didn't have to take a COVID test before travelling to the US but the US pre-departure COVID Test can be taken no more than 1 day before travelling to the US. It's not 24 hours it's 1 day.
It is another question I get asked on the US Travel Blog, when do I have to get the US pre-departure COVID test, is it 1 day before travel or 24 hours? The short answer is no more than 1 calendar day. Here is how it worked for me. I was flying out of London Heathrow to Newark Liberty in New Jersey. My flight was scheduled for 4pm on the Friday, however I booked my Qured Supervised COVID Test the day prior, my appointment was at 9am. I had the result back and my good to go, negative COVID result back by 9:10am. This was clearly well over 24 hours prior to me travelling, so in other words it was no more than 1 calendar day prior. There were no issues, no problems. Here is the link to the CDC website giving the details -
