As a tourist or regular visitor is New York City safe? This is a question that I'm asked a great deal and in my opinion yes, however, there are precautions you do need to take, like any large city. Firstly the subway, in the 20 years I've been visiting, since I was a kid, I have never experienced or witnessed any trouble. Remember I'm privileged to visit New York 5 or 6 times a year and have yet to experience any issue. Of course you will see a number of homeless people, in fact to be fair I have seen more homeless people since the end of pandemic. However that doesn't mean there is any more trouble.
Of course, like any large city let's apply some common sense. Don't wear flashy jewellery, don't have your most expensive camera on show. Know where your money is. Avoid dimly lit street. Avoid the crowds and distractions.all pretty much common sense advice.
Enjoy your trip to the US.
