Flight: Thursday June 16th 2022.
Flight number: VS127
So as I mentioned in a previous post, check-in at Manchester Airport was easy and quick. I was through check-in within minutes and then I was through security very quickly indeed at Manchester Airport.
Unfortunately today’s virgin flight to JFK airport is running an hour late but that’s not too bad there’s always something to say at Manchester Airport. Now for the boarding experience, because I am flying premium economy, I’m just bored amongst the first, so that’s always an advantage.
Boarded the plane and I’m in Premium Economy, great leg room and always helped with a glass of Prosecco. Thank you Virgin.
To start I had a glass of orange and a packet of pretzels, immediately after take off. Great views by the way of Liverpool below.
As we were flying over Ireland the faster seat belt sign was illuminated as we flew through some choppy air. Flight time today is predicted to be 6 hours 55 minutes.
Food was served approximately an hour into the flight and I decided to opt for the Chicken lasagna option and to be fair it was quite delicious, served with vegetables. It was also a generous portion too. Usually airplane food quite be very hit and miss, this was certainly a hit. I always like the salt and pepper dispensers that Virgin Atlantic provide. It shows the character of the airline.
Can I just add that the service on today’s flight so far has been fantastic. From service to personality, nothing has been too much for the onboard team. They cleared the tables quickly and topped up the drinks.
The A330 I’m on is a few years old, so there are a few technical issues with with peoples seats, IFE systems however the Inflight Service Manager was quick to introduce himself and offer his apologies. He could not arrange for it to be fixed then he offered loyalty points to allow for redemption on a future flight.
Soon after the meal service the lights were dimmed and people took advantage of an afternoon snooze. There’s still 5 hours 2 minutes of flying time left.
Throughout the flight we were offered snacks and endless drinks, if there was something I wanted then the cabin crew were fantastic.
In the galley there is a lovely little snack bar where you can help yourself to any snacks. I’m very impressed with the service Virgin Atlantic offers.
Now the only downside for me is the Inflight Entertainment System. The A330 used on the Manchester to JFK, NYC is ten or so years old and the IFE is beginning to show its age. Limited films and touchscreen navigation that is a little problematic. Yes there is a console to assist with navigation but if there is one wish, it would be for an upgrade to the entertainment system.
Now for the seat. It has a good pitch, good legroom and I’m 6 foot and the leather seat is comfortable and I had plenty of legroom. It has a neck rest so you can take some rest.
Next service is afternoon tea, consisting of sandwiches and a cream tea scone, again I was served Twining's English Breakfast tea, my request, in a mug. It was both delicious and perfect.
In conclusion my flight aboard VS127 was great, the cabin crew were fantastic, service brilliant, the only let down was a less than average entertainment system. Would I regime flying with Virgin Atlantic? Most definitely.
