EU to allow mobile phone calls on flights. No more airplane mode? I quite enjoy the peace and quiet of people not being able to use take telephone calls in the sky.

I'm not sure I want to be on an aircraft full of people on their mobile phone but the rules could soon change. 

Soon, customers on European Union (EU) airlines may be permitted to fully utilise their phones while flying. 

The European Commission has decided that airlines may offer both 5G technology and slower mobile broadband on board aircraft. 
Although at this point it's unclear exactly how it will be implemented, however this could mean that passengers won't need to put their phones on airplane mode anymore.
