I'm still getting a lot of questions from people about whether New York City is safe. I'm going to put it into context, something so like to think about. On all my recent visits to New York City this year I have not witnessed and nor have I felt threatened in anyway.
Naturally, you will see people who are a little intoxicated, or maybe under the influence of a substance of some sort, however, I have not felt in anyway intimidated or unsafe and to be fair, you see this in most cities.
The other thing you do need to take into consideration. It is a crime in New York City is still down on what it was in the 1990s and in the unsafe days of the 1970s and 1980s. So you can be rest assured that you should see more of a police presence on the likes of the subway and for the huge majority of tourists and visitors to New York City, you will not experience anything untoward.
