Frequently asked question this week, is whether I think US Global Entry is worth it.  If your country is eligible and you visit the US more than 3 times a year I say yes it's worth it. Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) enables pre-approved, low-risk passengers expedited clearance upon arrival in the country. It's a great time saving experience and believe me, you can shed hours off your wait into the US.

Program participants visit Global Entry kiosks at airports where they submit a machine-readable passport, run their fingers over a scanner for fingerprint verification, and fill out an online customs declaration. A transaction receipt is given to the traveller by the kiosk, which leads them to the baggage claim area and the exit, saving so much time.

The Global Entry programme requires pre-approval of travellers. Each applicant is subjected to a thorough background investigation and in-person interview. But don't let that put you off it is worth the inconvenience and applicable fee, of $100, which also includes TSA PreCheck [normally $78]. Application process time is 4-6 months and membership is valid for 5 years.

As mentioned not every country is applicable, here is the website to make your application:  https://ttp.dhs.gov/
