Tip: Travelling from JFK Airport to Manhattan, New York City? Take the Long Island RailRoad, it’s quicker, safe and cheaper than taking a taxi.

Here is a tip if you are travelling from JFK Airport into Manhattan. If you want to get the train then I recommend using the Airtrain from whichever terminal you happen to fly into JFK and then disembark at the station named Jamaica.

When you disembark at Jamaica, look for the signs for the Long Island Rail Road, it's the quickest means to get from JFK into Manhattan.

You can either get the train to Penn Station or Grand Central.

Train will make a couple of stops, but you are in Manhattan within 25 minutes.

This is a good half an hour to 40 minutes quicker than it would be if you were to take the subway. I've also found that getting the Long Island Railroad from JFK into Manhattan can often be quicker than taking a cab. And obviously it is substantially less expensive. So don't be afraid of public transport in New York City. The trains are always clean and they are safe, and I wholeheartedly recommend taking the Long Island Rail Road from JFK into Manhattan.
