Travelling to New York City? Don’t be afraid of riding the subway. In my opinion it’s the best way to get around NYC.

In my opinion I think the NYC Subway is the best way to get around New York City, for several reasons.

Firstly, it is one of the most affordable modes of transportation in the city. A single ride costs $2.75, which is significantly cheaper than taking a taxi or ride-sharing service. Additionally, the subway offers unlimited ride options such as the 7-day and 30-day MetroCards, which can save commuters money in the long run.

Secondly, the subway system is extensive and covers a large part of the city. With 472 stations and 27 subway lines, it is possible to travel to almost any part of the city using the subway. This makes it convenient for residents and visitors alike to explore different neighborhoods and attractions.

Thirdly, the subway operates 24/7, making it a reliable mode of transportation at any time of the day or night. This is especially important in a city that never sleeps and where people need to travel at all hours.

Finally, the subway is an iconic part of New York City's history and culture. Riding the subway is a unique experience that allows commuters to see the diverse mix of people and cultures that make up the city. It is also a great way to experience the energy and vibrancy of New York City.

Overall, the NYC Subway is the best way to get around New York City due to its affordability, extensive coverage, reliability, and unique cultural experience.

Finally, a question that I'm asked a lot, given the amount of times that I travel to New York City, is whether I think the subway is safe?

The answer for me personally, is yes, I think it is very safe.

According to the New York City Police Department (NYPD), the NYC subway is generally safe. The NYPD has increased its presence in the subway system in recent years, and crime rates have decreased significantly. However, as with any public transportation system, it is important to remain vigilant and aware of your surroundings. It is recommended to keep your belongings close to you and avoid displaying valuables. Additionally, it is best to try to stay in well-lit areas and avoid traveling alone late at night. Overall, while there is no guarantee of safety in any public space, the NYC subway is generally considered a safe and reliable mode of transportation.
