2 weeks today I fly to New York City. I’m excited. After COVID I never take travelling to the USA for granted.

In just two weeks, I am set to embark on a long-awaited journey to the vibrant streets of New York City. The mere thought of exploring the iconic landmarks, immersing myself in the city's diverse culture, and tasting its culinary delights fills me with an indescribable sense of excitement. But as I reflect upon this impending adventure, I cannot help but recall the times when travel seemed like a distant dream, obscured by the shadow of a global pandemic.

When COVID-19 swept across the globe, it brought with it unprecedented challenges and restrictions. Borders closed, flights were grounded, and entire nations entered periods of lockdown. For the first time in recent history, the world collectively faced the limitations of travel, with even short distances becoming seemingly insurmountable hurdles. These limitations forced us to confront the value of mobility and the privileges we had long taken for granted.

During those days of confinement, we yearned for the freedom to explore new destinations, to experience unfamiliar cultures, and to forge connections with people from all walks of life. We found solace in reminiscing about past journeys and dreaming of future adventures, aware that the joy of travel was not only in the destination but also in the anticipation that precedes it.

In our COVID-limited world, we realized that travel encompasses more than the mere act of moving from one place to another. It is a tapestry woven with human curiosity, a desire to broaden our horizons, and an eagerness to embrace the unknown. It is a reminder of our shared humanity and our interconnectedness, transcending borders and cultural differences. The excitement that fills our hearts as we prepare to embark on a journey is a testament to the transformative power of travel.

As we slowly emerge from the clutches of the pandemic, this imminent trip to New York City takes on a special significance. It represents a reclamation of our freedom, an affirmation of our resilience, and a celebration of our ability to once again explore the world around us. It symbolizes the hope that, despite the challenges we faced, we can still find joy in the anticipation of new experiences.

Moreover, this experience serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible travel. The lessons we have learned during the pandemic should not be forgotten. We must travel with an awareness of the fragility of the world we inhabit, mindful of the impact our actions have on the places we visit and the communities we encounter.

As I eagerly count down the days until my flight, I know that I am not alone in my excitement for travel. Across the globe, countless others are preparing for their own journeys, embracing the opportunity to rediscover the world and all it has to offer. Let us cherish this newfound appreciation for the privilege of travel, holding onto the lessons learned during the COVID era. May we embark on our adventures with open hearts, open minds, and a renewed zest for exploration.

So, to those who, like me, eagerly anticipate their upcoming travels, let us revel in the excitement and embrace the transformative power of the journey ahead. Let us recognize the privilege we have to once again explore the world and learn from its many wonders. And let us be grateful for the days when travel was a mere dream, knowing that our experiences are enriched by the challenges we have overcome. Safe travels, fellow adventurers, and may the anticipation of new horizons forever burn brightly within our souls.

Happy US travels to you all.
