The best way to get around New York City in my opinion is by Subway. I’ve never had any safety issues.

The best way to get around New York is by NYC subway, I find out it is safe, you do need to apply some common sense, but overall I think the NYC subway is a great way to travel around the city. It's also the quickest means in my opinion. One of the best tickets options is the New York City weekly pass and I explain more about that below. This enables you unlimited travel across both the NYC subway and bus network. It also saves you money, especially if you are making multiple trips it is unlimited Travel to so that makes it easier.

With the help of the OMNY technology, you can now pay contactlessly on NYC Public Transportation using either a card or a smartphone. You only need to tap in when you enter a metro station, and you may use it on the bus system as well. The good news is that OMNY won't charge you more than $33 for a 7-day unlimited Metrocard throughout the course of a week. As with a Metrocard fare, you are also entitled to free transfers.

Credit cards are accepted today, including those from the Visa®, Mastercard®, American Express®, Discover®, UnionPay®, and JCB networks.

Cards issued by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and JCB are known as debit cards.

Please remember that the New York City Metrocard is being phased out, so all payments in the near future will need to be contactless.  More details on everything you need to know about travel fares in New York City after the jump - https://new.mta.info/fares
