If you get to New York City the best place to go and have breakfast is La Bonbonniere in the West Village. By far they cook the best breakfasts, and you never have to wait for long. Wholesome food, good prices and institutional in the West Village. Be warned you may have to wait online for a table if you visit at the weekend, so either get there early or come for a burger, fries and strawberry milkshake later in the day. It's an old diner that has been in the West Village for many years, whilst not pretentious the food is delicious and you may even spot a local celebrity eating there.
Gus, Martina, Marco and the boys will welcome you and serve the best breakfast. Without me even asking they pour me a cup of Earl Grey Tea without even asking, that's great service.
